The Contract Immigrants Bill passed its remaining stages, with slight amendments. Iα the House of Representatives Mr Deakin, in reply to a question, said he caw nothing in the Anti-Trust Bill inconsistent with preferential trade. On the contrary, he thought that until some such provision was made by both the Mother Country and all dominions of the Empire there would not ho adequate means of protecting trade.
