The report of Dr liotli, chief protector of the aborigines, in reply to certain statements made in the .Assemhly reflecting mi his administration, bus caused considerable sensation. He ciujiltat-icnlly denies the statements contained in the petition presented to Parliament that lie had been guilty of taking grossly indecent photos of aboriginals, of connivim* at immorality, and of inhuman and unsatisfactory treatment.
Dr Roth declares that in the original oi this petition, a copy of which had been sent to him, then; were none of these statements. Tie denies that he sold a quantity of ethnological specimens, the property of the Uovernment, and retained the proceeds. Ac- to the telegram read in Parliament purporting to be from the curator of the Sydney Museum, slating that he (Dr Roth) had sold tlicm to that institution, Dr Both prints a letter from the curator stating that he did not- see the telegram, and denying that lie had purchased specimens.
