CIVIL SERVICE SUPERANNUATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln comparing in your leading article to-day tho teachers' superannuation 6chcmc with the one now proposed for civil servants, you appear to overlook the rights civil servants have under the Compensation Act of 1866. This compensation ceases to accrue when a civil servant goes in for superannuation. The teachers all along have been entitled to nothing, ami the moneys formi»<j the fund in the two coses arc not,.the same.
: The conditions of employment in the teaching profession too arc quite different from those in the civil service, which can be better compared to the railway service, and yet the contribution fixed for railway servants is lower than that proposed in the Civil Service Superannuation Bill. When the circumstances in the three cases are taken into account, I think it will bo found that the Government is acting more fairly than you give it crcdit for.—l am, etc.. Equity, October 18.
