THE LATE MR P. TRESEDER.

J The funeral of the late Mr Peter Tresederj which took place on Saturday, was largely attended, notwithstanding the inclement weather that prevailed. Amongst those who attended wore a number of gentlemen who had been associated with Mr I'reseder in various ways during his long residence in our midst. The coffin was hidden by a number of beautiful. floral tributes, and the funeral service was conducted by tho Very Rev. Dean Fitchett. Mr Tiesedcr, who was in Jus seventy-fourth ■year, wa3 a native of Truro, Cornwall, where he was educated and trained as a draughtsman, and waa for some timo engaged in that capacity on the Taff Vale railway in Wales. In 1853 he left England for the Australian goldfields, followed . two years later by the lady who became his wife. Mrs Treseder was also born in Truro, but joined her futuro husband in Victoria, where they, were married. Deceased spent -10 years on■the Victorian goldfields, after which* he sailed for New 'Zealand, arriving in Dunedin in 186-3. Shortly after his arrival he was appointed to a! position in the Government service, occupying successively positions in tho ■ Publio Works, Land Transfer, and Survey Departments, being [ chief draughtsman'in the latter department for about five years, retiring from the service on' a pension in 1897 after 35 years' faithful service.
