HARRIERS.

DUNEDIN CLUE. The Dunedin Harriers ran from the residence of their vice-presidcnt, Mr J. Glendining, Roslyu, on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of members. Fortythree men were in tho . pack, and with the captain in tho lead kept a good pace all through the run. The trail laid was in the direction .o£ Wakari, and after taking a large circle towards tho left finished up with a nice run up tho Kaikorai Valley. Over at the back of Wakari the country is very clear, allowing some fast running to be made, and, with the exception of ono bad pieoo of country, the hares managed to lay a very good trail. The run \ros rather dirty owing to .the recent rains, ajid a good laugh was occasionally raised at the expense of those who' found the bogs rather - soft. On reaching homo a, plentiful supply of water eoon dispersed all traces of tho run. To Mr and Mrs Glendining the club is greatly indebted for their kind attention to-0110 and all,' and for tho pleasing manner in which they again welcomed the club to their house.

CIVIL SERVICE. The Civil Service Harriers 011 Saturday ran from Hcriot row as the guests of their popular vio'e-presidont (Mr Marryatf]. There was a large attendance 'of members. Campbell and Cainp laid the trail up Nowington road, through Roslyn, round past the golf links, through Andorston, along the lower slopes of flagstaff, taking a turn towards the reservoir, coming out on Balmacewan road, and home Via Driver's road. The ground was very sloppy, and spills were numerous. After tho'run the members were hospitably entertained by Mr Marrj-att, somo of the members contributing musical items. Before departing cheers were given for tho host and the la-dics.

PORT CHALMERS CLUB. Favoured with fine weather and a fair muster the/'Port Chalmers Harriers held their weekly run last Saturday from the l'ort Rowing' Club's shed. Love and Ward were entrusted with the laying of the trail, and their thorough knowledge of the locality enabled them, to shape a course, which, though somewhat long and rough, was unanimously declared to be tho best so far this season. Leaving the shed, the hares struck up the hill, and passed to the south side of Lane's Rock into Sawyers' Bay. After following the road some distance, the trail led to the right up tho hill towards Mihiwaka, and from tho top of tho hill a beautiful view of tho harbour and surrounding country was obtained. "Tho paper Uion led down the hill towards Deborah Bay, as far as the railway line, thenco home via Carey's Bay. Before the run tho second club race (handicap) was hold, _ the distance being 100 yds. Dr Bauohop kindly acted as starter, and the result was a win for D. Banchop, witli S. Collier sccond. OTAGO UNIVERSITY. Owing, to insufficient notice of tho run having been given, there was an exceptionally small muster of the University Harriers at tho Wakari School on Saturday afternoon, only about 10 turning up. On this account it was deemed inadvisable to send out hares, so the pack, under the leadership of Mr Will, went for a very enjoyaiblp spin round the lower slopes of Flagstaff. It is a. matter of regret that greater interest is not shown in this club by the University students, as tho pack is a. fairly fast ono and several of the runners show great promiso and should givo a good account of themselves at the forthcoming Inter-club Cross-country Race. ST. JOSEPH'S. The St. Joseph's Harriers held their run on Saturday, 16 being present. - Starting from tho St. Clair baths, tho hares .laid a course iround the Second Beach,- past' the back of Cargill's, over, and round' the abattoirs, and home. During-the' run tho pack had somo grand ooiintiy'to .cover. They were out an hour and a-half,' and all thoroughly enjoyed tho run. 1 ANGLICAN. SmithJ laid the kail from the schoolroom along Cumberland street to Howe street, then turning up into G-corgo street they went along Duke street to Woodhaugh.Tho track then lay past tlw Paper.'Mills,' up-the path towards. the quarry, through tho Bush'-behind tlio • resorvoir. Tile: trail then went up a very steep hill, and out at the back of the golf jinks, crossing pari; of the links and getting on to a road, which brought the pack up into Maori Hill. Tho homeward track Was then taken across the. Belt and down into St. David street, along George, street, and down Dundas street, and .home. A shower bath at' Selwyn College was much appreciated. The trail t.hen led across the gully to the opposite ridge, down Bethune's Gully, and home, again through tho Valley. The country traversed was vory boggy and bushy, but, notwithstanding' this the' pack ran tlio hares very close, J. Riddell,' who was running very strong, catching them in Bethune's Gully. The run was pronounced tho best of the season. On arrival at t.lio school members did justice to the good things kindly provided by Mr Murray.
