THE PROHIBITION CONTROVERSY.
to TH K sninm.; Sir.—Your correspondence columns I always find intercstiwr. ami I ■ liave been ill Hip habit, of rearlmsr evrry word in tliam for years. Just now. one of the subjects of the 'lay is prohibition, and I would like to ' say just one word on the matter. A gisat niuitv o! the letters appear over noma da nlurae. There is nj harm, in that, per- . haps, but what seems to'' uve questionable is that sonic of tlic prohibition foaslors . apparently writ.! certain lett«re over tkoir .own names, and ocrtain others tljov write cnonymr>i!fJy. I mention lh>s point htcsuss a -letter—a very severe one—wits, 1 believe, written auonyniotisiy lit a prohibitionist who Mmttimes writes oyer his own name. At all events, the. identical letter was.shown by him to a fritnd of mine prior to his sendins; it to you. In regard to another letter in your columns Inst week, in ivhieh it ivgb i?iij><ifted that ui the event of ii dnink man beine seen doming out of an hotel all tile lioersjes in the district should be endorsed, I think the writer should have signed his name.—l am, etc., Neutbal.
