JOHN KNOX.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Please allow me to congratulate you upon giving your readers that very evcellent article in Saturday's issue wherein you show so graphically the immense benefits and blessings that ltnox was the instrument of bringing to his countiymen. Allow me to locommend to all your readers who have not read this excellent article to be sure to do so, believing that many of them will do as tho writer is going to do—cut it out and put it m their scrap hooks. But there is one thing, Sir, which I hope jou will allow me to notics: you do not acknowledge the souice whence Knox sot his inspiration, and at the same time tho cause of the grand success of his system of education. You write: "It is largely owing to the parish schools that tho Scotch people are known all over tho woild for their intelligence and enterprise." Now, Sii, please allow mo to assure jour readers that the Bible was the prime factor in inducing Kno\- to strive amidst many difficulties for Ihe welfare of his fellow creatures, and also the primary causo of his parish schools making his counirvmen "known all over tho world for their intelligence and enterprise." The Bible is just as' powerful now as it uas in the hands of .Tohn Knox, and (although we may not think it) just as much needed to make the lismg generation good citizens, and also to preserve our political and religious chaiters. Hoping that v.e will al follow Knox's example in putting the Bible in Hie schools,—! am. etc., James Stewart. Manor place, May 20.
