SLATTERY'S APPEAL.

• Vr«ss Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.. 'Sydney; May 19.' (Received May 20, at 1.5 a.m.) V The hearing has commenced in the Full Court of an appeal* on behalf of T. M. Slattery, who -was convicted of misappropriating the moneys of Mrs Scanlon. The grounds of appeal are that. Slattery was not the bailee of Mrs Seanlon's money for the larceny of which he was sentenced, but only the banker, and that 'the previous civil proceedings prevented criminal proceedings being taken on the same facts, Mr Jack Want srgued that the money was a debt from Slattery to Mrs Scanlon, and there could be no larceny of a debt; that when Slattery paid into his overdraft account it became the bank's money, and ■what he drew war not equivalent to Mrs 6canlon's money, but a loan by the bank. 1 ~~
