HEALTH NOTES.

(By W.8.C.) In order that wo may keep the body in 'the best-condition to withstand tho daily stress and strain of mental and physical wear and tear, it is essential for ns all to understand something of tho \arious processes of nature which ensure the maintenance' of life. Most people do not realise that it is as necessary to life that the body should waste away as it h that its substanceehould constantly be replaced by a sufficient supply of frosb air, water, and food. The ■wasting of the body is accomplished by the production of a certain quantity of usod-up material, and this used-up or dead material mu c t be thiown off from tho body by natural means without undue delay, for if any of it is suffered to lcmain in tho system it becomes actively poisonou ,: , and must cause disease or death.

Upon tho skin, lungs, kidneys, and liver rests tho main icsponsibility of extracting poisonous matter from the blood and removing it from the system. The moment one of those organs, through weakness or disease, becomes incapable of performing it.s work efficiently, that moment wo begin to' suffer from somo illness, and if step? arc not taken to restore to health and acti\ ity the organ at fault death from some form of blood poisoning must ensue. The skill, as a general thing, needs but regular treatment with good soap and water, and it will do its duty perfectly and without complaint. The lungs arc vigorous organs and we are soon made aware of any liiferEwnco with their action by a fit of coughing or a choking sensation. It is the importance of looking wdl after tho health of ,thc kidneys and liver which we especially desire to impress upon our readers These organs are the most dclieato of all those engaged in extracting and removing from tho blood tho wasto poison? as fast at they are pioduced in the bodv. Unless the kidneys and liver aro in a fit state to thoroughly perform their task, tho particular poisons, which it is their duty to make and extract, will remain in the sjstom, and a» the kidneys and liver aro often unable to toll us directly, by a sensation of pain, that there is anything tho matter with them, we arc probably, unaware of their failuro until we begin to suffer from Rheumatism. Gout, Neuralgia, Lumbago, Backache, Sciatica, Blood Disorders, Anamia, Indigestion, Biliousness, Jaundice, Sick Headache, General Debility, Gravel, Stone, and Bladder Troubles. All these complaints are causod bv the pro'encc in the bodv of urinary and biliary poisons, which, il the kidnevs and fiver were acting efficiently, would have been duly removed, and wo should ha\o been spared from suffering. Tho kidney* of the average person filter and extract* from the blcod about three pint' of urinp every day. In this quantity of mine should be dissolved about an ounce of urea, ten to frrehe prains in weight, of uric acid, and other animal and mineral matter varying from a third 1 of an ounce tfl nearly an ounce. If the kidneys are working freoly and healthilv, all this sonU matter leaves Ihe bodv di c snhed in tno urino, but if, through weakness or disease, tho kidneys arc unable to do their work proporly.a quantity of those urinary substances remains in the blond and flows through Iho veins, contaminating the whole svstcm Then wo stiff*"- from fomo form of uric poisoning, such as Rheumatism, Gout, Lumbaro, Backache, Sciatica, Persistent Headache, Neuralgia, Gravel, Stone, and Bladder Troubles. A simple test to make as to whether tile kidneys are healthy is to place some urine, passed the first thing in the morning, in a covered gliss. and let it stand until next morning. If it is then cloudy, shows a =ediinent like biickdust. is of an unnatural colour, or has pa'tides floating about in it, tho kidneys aro v.eak or diseased, and «tcps iru«t immediately Ih> taki>n to their vigour, or Bright's Disease, Diabetes, or somo of the many manifestations cf uiic poisoning will result The liver is an automatic chemical laboratory. In the liver various substances ate actually made fio'ii tho blood. Tuo or three pounds of bile are thus made bv the liver evfrv dav. The liver takes sugar from the blood, converts it into another form, and stoies it up «o as to be able to again supply it to tho blood, as the letter may require enrichment. The liver changes liric arid, which is insoluble, into urea, which is coniDletelj soluble, and the liver i also detl? villi the blood corpu : clcs which hive lhed their life and are useful no | longer. When tli-* liver is inactive or diseased we sufFei from some form of bil'ary poisoning, such as Indigestion, Biliousness, Amp'nia, .Jaundice, Sink Hi>id'i"lie, General Debility, and Blood Disorders.

So intimate is the relation between 'he work done bv the kidnevs ami tliar dor»o bv tiio liier that where (Jiero is any failure on the pait of th« kidnejs the liver becomes affected in sympathy. and vice versa. It was the realisation of the imnortance of this close union of the labour of those vital oigans which icsulled in the discovery of the medicine now known throughout the world as W.irnpi's Safe Cme. Cei'ain medical men, knowing what a boon it would he to humanity if some merhemp could ho found which would set (specifically on both tli" kidneys and liver, dovotoc' themselves to an exhaustive «eareh for such a medium, and th"ir devotion was evcnluallv lew-ftM by their success m compounding a medicine which nos=osse- the returned quality in the fullest decree. \?arn»i's Safe Cure'eidiibit*; a marvellous healing acuon in all ca«es of functional or chronic disease of the kidneys nnd liver, and restoriug them. <ts it is able to do, to health and activity, it, of necessity. eur<-s all complaints due 'o the retention in the system of urinaiv and biliary poison*. A vigorous action of the kidneys and liver natuially eliminates the poisons, and tiou'ules due to ihp produce of_ the liaisons cease. Cures effected by ari'er s Safe Cme are permanent simply became rliey are natural
