At tlio last quarterly meeting of the Royal Oak Lodge, No. 3. a largo number ot mimbors was present, and much important business transacted. Alter considerable discussion it was decided to withdraw thoir delegate from the Swimming' Club Committee. Bros. J. G. Briggs (ukl B. C. Lowry wore appointed to represent the lodgo on tlio United Friendly Societies' Dispensary Committee, and Bros. Rackley and M'Konzie were appointed as representatives on the Hospital Concert Committee. Sick pay was passed to a largo number of sick members, One now member was proposed, Receipts 01 tlie evening, £30. The Ark of I/ove Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was successfully reopened on Thursday evening in the new Oddfellows' Ilaill opposite the Gardens. Bro. Dalton, D.D., presided, mid initiated two candidates. After various resolutions dealing with tho 'futuro working of the lodgo had been dealt with the election of officers resulted as follows:—C.T., Bro, Anderson, sen.; V.T., Sis. Booth; L.D., Bro. Churchill; Secretary, Bro. T. Anderson; F.S., Sis. Cr. Booth; T., Bro. Thomson; M., Bro. C. Anderson; G., Bro. Knowles. A strong committee was appointed to canvass the lodges for support, and get a largo membership. After a harmony programme an encouraging address was given by the D.l). Votes of thanks to the visitors were responded to by Bro. Dalton, Bro. Wilis (Pioneer), and a representative oi the Hope of Dnnedin.

Tlio weekly meeting of tho Rescue Lodge of Good Templars was held on Friday evening in the Presbyterian Schoolroom, South Duncdin, Bro. J. Hilton, C.T., presiding. One candidate was initiated. Correspondenco was received from Lifeboat Lodge, Timaru, also greetings from .same.' One member applied- for credentials to take Grand Lodgo degree. Tho item on the syllabus was "Humour in Song and Story." The voto to the visitors was responded to by Si 9. Alexander (Alliance).
