BOERS DEMAND RESPONSIBLE
GOVERNMENT.

(Received Feb. 16, at 8.53 a.m.) Ex-General Beyers, in a speech at Pietcrsburg, said that unless responsible government were granted immediately the Boers would bo compelled to steal in order to feed tlieir families. There would then be a repetition of the Slaughter's Nek incident of 1815. Other lenders deprecate such indiscreet tactics.
(Received Feb. 36, at 9.43 p.m.) Botha has condemned Bevers's speech. LONDON, February 15. All correspondents emphasise the Boers' bold bid for power in demanding responsible government and the retention of the old electoral districts.
