MASTER BAKERS' ASSOCIATION.
THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The annual conference of tho New Zealand! United Master Bakers' Association iva-l opened at tho Chamber of Comiiicico all 9.30 a.m. oh February 1, when tho president! (Mr W. A. Kellow, of Wellington) presided, and there were present Mr J. G. Laurensonl (vice-president), Mr 11. H. M'Carthy (Wellington, secretary), and the following dole gates:—Dunedin, Mc&srs W. Wood and Hj S. S. White; South Canterbury, Messrs A, G. liudd and J. Symons; Christchurch, Ma W. Thomson; Marlborough, Mr J. H. Scott; Wellington, Mr J. Stratford; Manawatu, Sir A. K. Whitehead; and Auckland, Messrs. J. Burton and J. Gardner. So' far, Invcrcargill, Nelson, Napier, and' Tarnnaki aro not represented. The business-transacted was of moro importance to the association as a whole than to tho public. Tho report stated that tho incomo had amounted to £71 10s ll£d and the expenditure to £71 Is Bid. The price of bread was fixed on the samel basis as previously. Tho scale is as follows:! With flour costing up to £7 a ton bread sold for 5d per 41b loaf, between £7 and £8 for SJd, between £8 and £9 for 6d, between £9 and £10 for - between £10 and £11 for 7d, between £11 and £12 for 7£d, between £12 and £13 for Bd. On the motion of Mr Laurenson, Mr Kellow was re-elected president, tho motion being carric-d with applause, tho singing of "For he's a jolly good fellow," and fugIn returning- thanks, Mr Kellow said ho had intended to review the work of the conference, but, unfortunately, he was unable to do so, owing to tho secretary having declined to givo up the books.and papers. 110 had wished that the conference could havo closed with good feeling all round; the conference mot and tho bakors wore associated for tho good of the trado in Now Zealand.—(Applause.) Mr Laurenson was ro-elcotcd vico-presi-dont, and tho Executive Committee—Messrs M'Parland, Churchill, Denhardt, and Langdon—was also re-elected. At the close of the confereneo tlio dclo- » gates and friends wcro entertained afc a very enjoyable picnic by tho local branch of tho Flourmillers' Association.
