MR A. S. ADAMS AGAIN.

TO Tilt KUITOIi Sin, —In 3'onr issue of the- 25th Novemlwr Air A. S. Adams onco more airs his.educational acquirements by ■ insinuating that because the Hon. T. E. MacdonalA believes in democracy he should therefore be k&s of an anti-prohibitionist. It might just as well he argued that because Mr A. S. Adams stayed at the Albion Hotel, Jnvercaryill, ho believed in liquor, or suppose because th<i Rev. Frank Isitt was not a. total abstainer in tho early days he his no right' to preach prohibition now. If Mr A. S, Adams is right in his contention. then the whole prohibition campaign should be forthwith abandoned. Equally interesting is tho cause to which Mr Adams traces the sobriety of New Zealand. The next time ho preaches from a Christian pulpit he should advocate salvation by an outward whitewash. "The inference is inevitable "—so llr Adams.— I am, etc., Wit. Thomson.
