A. AND P. SHOWS.

(Per United' Pbkss Association.) NELSON, November 29. Tho first day- of the Nelson A. and P. Society's show .was favoured with perfect weather. The exhibition is the best that has been held here. The sheep and cattle were particularly "good, and amongst the latter Ayrshires remarkably so. The enp for the greatest number of points in Ayrshire cattle chases was won by Mr Albert Gibbs, 'Mr W. Opleman coming second. Tho cup for the'greatest number of points in sheep classes, was won by Messrs G. and A. Hunt,' With Mr P, Best second. I'm , merinos Sir G. V. Watts (Marlborough), and Messrs Irvinci (Nelson) and Ris'lpy Bros. were tho chief prize-takora. For English Lsieesters Mr 3. R Salisbury was chief, anil for Lincolns .Mr p. Bishell (Blenheim) was chief. In Uomney Marsh Messrs U. and A. Hunt took noariy all tho prizes, and so they did in Shropshitos. In Sauihdowns Mr P. Best was oliief prize-taker, and Mr A. Irvino was chief in Corriedales. Tho fat sheep were very good. November 30. Tho show was again favoured with periect weather for tho People's Day. Tho formal oponing was declared by Mr Graham, M.H.R., the Attorney-general also speaking. There was a record attendance, and everything went without a hitch. The riding, driving, end jumping competitions (especially tho latter) for ladies and children, with woodchopping and sawing contests, excited considerable interest. •

GBKVMOUTH, November 50. The opening "ay of (lie A. and P. thovr was » groat success. The weather was beautiful, and there was attendance. Tho entries were:—Horses, 190; cattle, 13; sheep, 23 j ,pigs, 9; dogs, 23; poultry, 16; industrial and arts, 151. In sheep Sir Mcrritt and Messrs- G. and A. Hunt were the principal prizo-winners, and in cattle Mer-srs Nuttall and Mcrritt carried off the liunonrs. In pigs Messrs Meritt and Cain were the prizewinners. The horses are not yet judged. The leaping, riding, driving, and woodchopping contests provided a splendid afternoon's enjoyment. Tho show will be continued to-morrow. A large number of visitors are in town.
