PROPOSED CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.
CIIRISTCHUHCH, November 11. A number of prominent citizens to-day met. the Premier regarding the proposed exhibition to be held here- Mr T. H. Davey, introduced the subject, and Mr Seddon invited tho:o present to give an expression of their views. Mr Robert Allan, the Hon. C. C. Louisson, Mr W. Reece, and others assured tho Premier that tho proposal of tho Government was thoroughly appreciated, and that no effort would Iw spared to make the proposed exhibition a success in every way. There was a difference of opinion as to tl|o date most suitable for tho exhibition, some considering that at least two years should bo allowed for the necessary preparations, and others holding that no time should be lost. Finally it was decided to ask the Mayor to call, at an early date, a public meeting, at which the citizens should decide what timo would bo required, end appoint committees.
The stated that it .was intended to make the exhibition the; best and most eomjirehoiisive ever held ii\ Now Zealand. He asked that a local committee should be set up to cooperate with the Government, and added that it was tTio. intention of tho Government to get committees set up ifi other centres to co-operate with the pentral one. Tho question was raised as to whether a year was mifiiojent tinio whorein to make preparations, but this wm left over for fyrtuer consideration. ' ' ■
