CASUALTIES.

OAMARU, November 20. ■A fatal accident occurred at Totara on Saturday afternoon, by which Mrs M'Kirdy was tilled and Mr William M'Kirdy (who was till recently employed in Messrs John Mill and Co.'s store, Oamaru) suffered somewhat serious injuries. The M'Kirdys were driving near Totara behind; another--trap, which pullctt up to let down a passenger. •M'Kirdy'was passing on the right-hand side, when tho wheels clashed slightly. The noise startled M'Kirdy's horse, which ran up a. bank, throwing him out, and a little lower down Mrs M'Kirdy Was thrown out against a 6tono fence oil her head and. was killed instantly. At an inquest to-day the jury found a verdict of "Accidental death." M'Kirdy was brought in to the Oamaru Hospital to-day suffering from a dislocated thigh. (Pee United Phkss Association.) AUCKLAND', November 19. Frederick Henry Loat-han, newsboy,; <iged '13, was killed this morning by a train while attempting to pass from carriage to carriage to sell papers. Ben Johnson,' who left Hohoura iasb Saturday in a small boat, has not since been heard of. It is feared that he lias,; been blown to sea and drowned.
