THE LABOUR DAY HANDICAP.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your report of the of Hid above race you ; say that tlio judging went by points—viz.: 5 points for first, 3 for second, and 1 for_ tliird. First distance: Henderson 1, receives S; Oakenful 2, receives 3; Bannatyne 3, rcccives 1. Second distance: Wright 1, receives 5; Oollio 2, receives 3; no third reportod. Now, Sir, I cannot tell who wins tho handicap, as two men are equal with 5 points each, unless they divided first and scoond prises. But I am told tho official: result was: Henderson, 10 points 1; Oakonful and Wright 3 points each, divided second, and third prizes. Surely thero is some mistake here, for if you tako your report as, a guide you havo Henderson 5 points and Wright 5 points e<]ual.for first, and Oakenful 3 points and Collie 3 points equal for third. That ia rather "mixed" to say tho least, but, nevertheless, it is the u:dy way. I can rend it. Trusting tlwt you can supply mo with names of the prize-winners,—l tun. etc., Fuzzled. [Mr Bropn informs lis that in the' final for the second distanco Henderson was first, and Wright and Collio ran a dead lioat for fcoond place. "Wright. and Collie then ran the distanco again, Wright winning and thus takinij second place, withCollio third. This worked out in pointsHenderson 10. Wright 3, Collie 1. Oaken--ful and Wright had 3 points oacli, and tho judges awarded Oakenful second place, their only reason for so doing, i>o far as Mr Breen is aware, being tli.it Oakenful won two heats, and that Wright only ran in . ono distanco, in Which ho got second* place.]
