Highflyer led out of the straight, with St. Modan, Fairy States, Palmist, Cakewalk, and Martian following. In the next furlong St. Modan had command, and passed tho mile post with a- couple of lengths' advantage o£ Highflyer, Fitzgrafton, and Tartan. Going along the back Martian ran into third place, St. Mcxlan maintained his lead to the turn, where Tartan went after him, with Fitzgrafton and Martian in attendance. As they swept into the straight Alias came very fast. Tartan disposed of St. Modan at the distance, but at the half distance Alias cut down the leader and won by two lengths; Cato finishing well up, third, followed by Fairy States and Cakewalk, while Martian and Grand Rapid# wero a long way back.
