(Limited) report having held .their weekly sale of grain and prqduco at their stores on Monday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and uixler fair competition- most of the lines on olfer, with the exception of potatoes, were quitted at auction. Good chaff was in demand at a considerable advance on late values. Prices, ruled as under:— Oats.—The market 'is exceedingly qitiet. There have been few inquiries during the ■week, sales being confined to small country orders for seed, and a few lines of B grade quality have been purchased for coastal shipment. A grade quality is not in request at present values, while damaged lines are difficult to clear. Quotations: Prime mining, Is 7d to la 8d; good to best feed, Is 5d to Is Gd; medium nnd inferior, Is to Is 4d per bushel (sacks, extra). Wheat.—Not much prime milling wheat is offering, and local millers are not buying at prices asked, and tl& business passing is on a very small scale. Medium quality is rot inquired for.. Fowl wJieat'iß in good demand locally, but shippers can buy to better advantage at northern potts., ' Quotations: Prime milling, 3s i 7d to 3s 9d; medium do, 35.4 d to Ba 64; Best whole fowl .wheat, 3s to 3s Bd> bfoken and damaged, 2a 8d to 2s lid ,pef biieM (Backs extrA)..

Potatoes.—There is HO improvement in this market. Derwents continue to move off slowly at late values, but white potatoes suitable for seed have only a limited sale. Quotations: Best Derwents, £1 15s to £1 178 6(1; medium do, £ 1 10s to £1 12s Gd; seed sorts, £2 to £3 per ton (bags in). Chaff.—Owing to the unfavourable weather few consignments .came forward last week, and the market is now bare of supplies, and prices have advanced in some cases to the extent of 10s per 1 ton. A truck of extra prime oaten sheaf would to-day probably realise £\ per ton, but prices must again ease as soon as consignments come forward and with oats at present values. Quotations: Prime oaten sheaf, £3 6s to £3 103; extra do, £3 15s; medium, £2 153 to £3; light'and inferior, £2 5s to £2 10s per ton (bags extra). Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report: We held our weekly auction pale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday. Our calaloguo was a small ,onc, and mot with fair competition from a good attendance of buyers. Values ruled as under: —

Oats.—The market has been quiet during tho past week, with a very limited inquiry for good export lines. Stocks on hand are not large at tins season, of tlie year, and anything like steady export business would .readily absorb the bulk of the prime "A" and "B" oats onoffer locally. For medium quality there is not much inquiry. We quote: Prime milling, 1b 7d to 18 Sd; good to best feed. Is 5(11 to Is Gd: medium and inferior, .Is Id to Is 4d per bushel \sncks extra).

Wheat.—No sales of any importance hav> been passing, buyers for all sorts preferring to keep out of the market. Late reports from Lcndon, indicating that values nre likely io remain firm, have had a steadying effect on tho market, and buyers are moTe disposed to operate, though no sales of any importance can bo reported. ' Prime milling is tho oniv quality in favour with millers, medium sorts being scarcely saleable except as fowl wheat. For the latter there is belter demand at quotations. Wo quote: Prime milling, 3s Vol to 3s 9d; medium, 3s 4(1 to 3s Cd; best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s. 3d; medium and broken, 2s lOd to 3s Id per bushel (sacks extra). . Potatoes.—Steady supplies of all sorts have been coming forward. Bet Derwents are in moderate demand, and continue to move off at quotations. White potatoes nre considerably in over-supply, and liavo iittlc attention from buyers. We quote: Best Derwents, PGs to 403; other sorts, 80s to 355; seed lines, 40s to GOs per ton (bags in). Chaff.—Small supplies of prime quality have come forward, and these arc readily taken on arrival. For all such there is a good demand, which will doubtless he filled shortly now that better weather prevails. Medium and inferior sorts aro not readily quitted. We quote: Best oaten sheaf, £3 5s to £i! 10s; extra heavy and bright, to £3 15s; medium to good, £2 10s lo £3; inferior, £2 to £2 5s per ton (bags extra). Holders are asking 3s Cd at sidings, less commission, but little business is doing at these prices. A a matter of fact, 3s 4d net, at sidings, has been given in a few cases for good milling, hut tho market is inactive, and more definite information as to tho London market is awaited. The Bluff continues to undersell this district for oats in the North Island markets, and sales this week have been very few.
