PRESENTATION.
A very pleasant function took placo last night in Trinity Methodist Church Hall in the shape of a social gathering of the members of that church to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs C. F, Edgar, on the eve of their departure from this city to Auckland. During the evening a short musical programme was gone through; consisting of songs by Miss Marshall, Messrs Jieid and M'lntyre, a violin solo by Miss Dickson, a piano solo by Miss lies, and a doublo quartet by the members of the church choir.
The Rev. C. 31. Laws, in a brief address, said that the present occasion was one of those in which speaking was extremely difficult— even to a Methodist minister. In any case, he did not think , much speaking was necessary to express the feelings the congregation had towards Mr and Mrs Edgar. The splendid gathering of people there showed that. They had gathered there to say " Good-bye" to the most respected and beloved members of their congregation. Mr Edgar had for some time been one of the church trustees, a position of 110 small responsibility. He was also for some years a faithful member oi tho choir. Mrs Edgar had also devoted long and valued services to the church as a. member of the choir and as a Sunday school teacher. Ho had now only, on behalf of tho trustees of the church, to present Mr and Mrs Edgar with a. silver hot-water kettle, and, 011 behalf of the choir, .to present Mrs Edgar with a salad howl and Mr Edgar with a silver-mounted walkingstick, also Mr E. Edgar with a silver pencil case,
Mr Edgar briefly and feelingly responded, thinking one and all for their good wishes, their kind thoughts, and tho presentations which they had made to Mrs Edgar, him9clf, and his son.
