CONGRESS OF NATIONS.
Another entertainment, entitled a " Congress 0! Nations," was given under the auspices of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in the South Dunedin Town Hall last evening. Tho building was about half full, and all present appeared to enjoy the entertainment thoroughly, the applause being, frequent and hearty. The entertainment was 011 thn same iines as that recently given in the Choral Hall,' and Miss Hughes, as the Goddess of Temperance, was again the central figure, while the different countries were represented by the following ladies:—Mis3 Holland (China), Mi's Cook (America), Hiss South (Britannia); Miss G, Blair (Pcace), Miss Edie Burrows (Persia), Miss Marie Farrunt (Germany!, Miss Clark (Rome), Miss May Pierson [Greece), Miss 'Borrow (Spain), Miss F. Riddle (Wales), Miss A. Hobson (India), Mi»3 Bessie South (Japan), Miss S. Thorn (Denmark), Miss 11. Bain 1 (Egypt), Miss G. Bedford (Switzerland), Sliss Dawcett (Ireland), Miss E. Borrow (Iceland), Miss E, Peterson (Holland), Miss M. Peterson (Scotland), Miss E, Murratt (Australia), Miss Flo Dawcett (New Zealand), and Miss Bora M'Farlane (Maori). During the evening songs were rendered by Misses C-coper, Rolland, South, Edie, Burrows, F. Riddle, and Borrow, and also by Mr Davie, all the numbsrs being very well' received. A recitation was nicely given by Miss Clark, and a pianoforte solo bv Miss Mabel Wright was much appreciated. Before tho close of the entertainment Miss Hughes delivered a brief but interesting address on tho question of temperance, and make a forcible appeal to all present to lend assistance ■ in suppressing the liquor traffic. Tho ■ singing of "Auld lang syno" and the National Anthem brought the gathering to a close.
