A. AND P. SOCIETY'S WINTER SHOW.
\ TO CLOSE TO-NIGHT. Tho attendance at'the winter show of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday exceeded that of any of previous shows since the society took in hand to hold its second show in the year. • The takings for th« day amounted to £326,' which is an increase of £41 on the sum taken on any ono previous day. of the winter shows. The (oral amount laken for the throe days is £587, and the total for four days last year was £572, so that, with to-morrow yet to be taken into account, there is an increase oi £15.
Among exhibits not mentioned in previous reports is Komney Marsh wool, shown by Air W. Tclford, who was awarded first prizo for hie exhibit, though the only exhibit. Tho wool was of excellent quality. Tlioro is also a*cry fine sample-of scoured merino woo], shown by Messrs G. and T. Nieholls, of Abbotstord Station, Canterbury. This is for'exhibition only, as is also a sample of morino wool forwarded .by Mr F. Smith, of Albury, Canterbury. Messrs (inlanders 8r05... of Barfieid, also show Sharp's universal turnips, for which there was no class. The turnips were of splendid quality and size—tho best of tho sort exhibited here. Tho show will be open again to-day, and Mu Cuddic, deputy ciairv commissioner, expresses n desire to meet factory managers near the cheese oxhibits for the purpose of having a little friendly discussion on tho various' exhibits in the daily department of tho show.' ■ ■

11. is worthy of mention that this is the third year Mr ,T, W. Blair has won for tho most poiutjfcin roots.
