FIRES.

(Per United Press Assooiation.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. William Cttddon's grain-orushing mill, worked in conjunction with the malt house at Fendalton, was totally destroyed by fire to-night. ■The building, which was of four storeys, contained machinery valued at £1500, and was full of a stock of peas, barley, r.nd chicory. The only insurance was about £1000 in tho New Zealand office. Mr Cuddon estimates the actual loss at £2000. The mill had, been working all day, and tho only suggested rause of lira wai tho possibloheating of tho bearings in tho upper storey. FEILDING, June 2. A boarding-houso occupied by Mr M'Erlean at Colyton was totally destroyed by fire at 5 o'clock this morning. Insurances : On tho building, £600, and on the furniture, £450, m tho London and Liverpool and Globe office.
