THE FEDERAL MINISTRY

THE DEAKINITES STAND ALONE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, June 2. (Received June 2, at 11.25 a.m.) Mr. Watson's proposals for coalition were submitted to the Deakin caucus, who, after discussing both alliances, decided by 13 to 7 against either. .It was urged' that every effort should be made to maintain the unity and integrity of the Liberal party. Sir John Forrest warmly advocated coalition with Mr Reid, and it is asserted that a warm and wordy altercation ensued between Sir J. Forrest and Sir W. J. Lyne, the latter declining to: have anything to do with Mr Reid, no matter what the caucus decided.
