Sifton, Minister of the Interior, speaking in the Dominion House of Commons, warned the shipping companies that the anti-pauper law would be rigidly enforced, and that the companies would have to repatriate all Continental emigrants unable to support themselves. (Received June 2, at 11.25 a.m.) William M'Lellan, charged with murder, has been, discharged, there being 110 doubt that his wife purchased strychnine, and was responsible for the death of herself and child. M'Lellan informed the police that, on returning home to Karriedalo after two days' absence, he found liis wife and child dead, and, as the inquest showed they had died from pojson, lie was arrested. After arrest lie handed two letters to the police, purporting to be written by his wife, in which she stated her intention of doing wray with herself. A PLAGUE CASE, BRISBANE, June 2.
