PERSONAL NOTES.

Sir J. a. Ward, Minister lor Railways, arrived in Dimedin from the north lost night, and spends a couple of days here. Lady Ward is coming south by to-day's express from Chrislchurch.

The Hon. T. Y. Duncan, Minister for Lands and Agriculture, came to Dunedin on Tuesday night, and yesterday afternoon opened the'winter show.

The' Nelson Education Board by ballot appointed Mr Alex. Crawford, M.A., of Gisbome, junior, inspector of schools, in room of Mr Strachan, who was appointed inspector of Marlborough. . Tho other candidates were Messrs J. Porteous, MX (Invercargill), and Jnme3 Harkness, B.A. (Nelson).
