PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting o! the Porlobello Eoid Board, held on- Saturday, nas attended b; Messrs J. Dickson, Wright, Hardy, Ska<v, Cross, M'Carlney, Bacon, Scnton, and Macandrow.—Mr J. Dickson wr.9 unanimously elected chairman.—The inspector reported with reran! io the entrance of Luis street, Helrn--1)wt"1i, In the Beach road that ho was unable to °et the full width, llio boundary fence and fcctioii peg only giving JOft of road.—To fitnnd over; members of the subdivision to inspect locality, ar.d inspector to gel all available information and report at next meeting.—Mr Fiancis asked the board to erect a pound for cuttle in the district, and thereby obviate expenses of ratepayers. when their cattle aie taken to South Dunedin mid impounded.— Kcaolved that the beard cannot comply with the request, as the expense of-erecting a pound is beyond its financial means, but in the meantime the.ranger to be instructed not to impound cattle before giving owners (where known) notice. Sir Landrcth wrote asking tho board to cotue to terms;with Mrs Wilson, Broad Buy, in regard to the proposed now rojd leading through hef property, from tho beach to the Camp Estate.—Resolved that n deputation interview Mrs Wilson on the subject, and report to the board. Meesrs Riddell and Dick, on babalf of the Otago Heads Board, asked the board to make nil roads in the district leading to the Native llesewe.—Consideration held over, tho clerk to furnish the board with_ information on tho matter. Messrs Milne, Findlay, and Stcvons, solicitors to the board, forwarded an opinion re motor bicycles running on the Beach, road, and stated that the board x hiul authority to deal with all vehicular traffic on the road.—liesolved that the by-law be so amended as to -prevent motor cars or bicycles running on the Beach road. A tender from Mr D. Leithly for 100 yds of metal from E. Seaton'fl quarry was necopted.
