TO THE EDITOK. Sip.,—Tii yours of the 25th inst. yougiv, the strength in battleships as under:—Erst class 49, with 1 building and 6 projected— 62 in all; second class 4, and third l class 2. This is very much' under tho real figures, which at 31st March last- (the end of the Admiralty year) were:—First class, 59—viz., 2 ships purchased from Chili, 8 Formidables, 6 Duncans, 6 Campuses, 1 Renown, 9 Majesties, 8 Koyal Sovereigns, 2 Centurions, 2 Niles, 1 Sans Parpil, 6 Admirals; total, 51—and 8 King lOdward YH's building (3 promised for this year); second' class, 12 ships; third class, 11 ships; coast defence, 16 ships. In this year's programme two ships of a. new class (Lord Nelson) arc provided l for.— I am, otc., 0. K.-
