The complete excavation of tbe buried city of Hereulaneum lias teen decided upon,

Hereulaneum, along with Pompeii and other cities of the Campania, was destroyed by tho great ovuption of, Vesuvius in 79. Tiie buried city is about two-thirds of a mile from tho Portici station of the railway from Naples to Pompeii. Many raro and interesting "finds" havo already beon mado in that portion of tho city which has been oxcavated. Thoso include the famous bronzes known as tho reposing Hermes, tho drunken Silenus, the sleeping faunus, the dancing girls, Plato's bust, the quoittlirowers, and others.
