THE DRAINAGE BOARD.
Br Cou&htroy has forwarded tlio following letlor to the Premier under date March 23:-
I Jiave to (hank you for your wire of yesterday, end 1 accept your impressions as to never having intended nnv discourtesy to the hoard and their engineer,' but I stiil icel that thoaa who misinformed ycu, whose names you hava 'not yet given. havo very seriously misled ycu. Your telegraphed r'ply to my vires and lettor* is confusing and illogical. You assume that) the board hevo been in not ascertaining the true nature aud location of the variou? stiucturea you qnot*. How could v»o havp discovered tlio date furnished to us by others to be unreliable unless v:e had taken measures to test them? M mtic!i expense our ergineering staff have corrected in detail by actual surveys and inspection the location, levels, and nature of these ntruetures, and, aa I before asserted, the board's schema is so complete that they can forthwith call foj tenders or undertake themselves by day laboiu ut a few days' notice in itny part- of their district any portion of the scheme they adopted' ia May, 1903.
