WEDDING AT ST. PAUL'S.
St. Paul's pro-Cathedral was the scene of a very pretty wedding yesterday, when the 'marriage'of Mr lirncet Robert Stewart, son of Mr Eobovt Stewart, of Melbourne, to Miss Margaret Klfrida Mathison Tapper, eldest daughter of Cr K. A. Tapper," of Dunedin, was celebrated. The news of the event had apparently spread far and wide, for, long before' tho time appointed for the ceremony, Stuart street was blocked by a well-dressed gathering of ladies who had assembled to catch a glimpse of the bride. The interior of the church, which was well filled by the wedding guests, presented a protty picture in its artistic decorations, the labour of love of Uio bride's friends. Punctually at 12 o'clock the bride entered .ho church on hsr father's arm, Mr W. Baylor playing the "Bridal March" from " Lohengrin" as the bridal parly walked up tlio. aisle. The bride was attended by her tiro sister.?, Misses Ebio and Muriel Tapper, and Misses Irene Stewart (siater of llio bridegroom) and Minnie MacdontrW. Mr T. Scoular Fleming acted as best man, and had in attendance Dr Frank Hotop, Mr Alfred N. Jones, and Mr Leonard J. Hobbs as groomsmen. Tlie ceremony was performed by Bishop Ncvill, assisted by the Rev. H.' 15. Jones. After the vowa wero taken, Mr W. Taylor played Mendelssohn's " Wedding 'March " m the bridal party left the church. The bride was dressed in a. beautiful white merveilleux frock, handsomely trimmed, with real lace, tho skirt made with a gauged flounce edged with tucks and finished with insertion. The bodice had full transparent sleeves and yoko of tucked chiffon, tho yoke finished with lace and accordion-pleated frill of chiffon. A full court train completed a very elegant toilette. The bride's veil was fastened with a diamond and sapphire crecont, the gift of tho bridegroom, and she carried a beautishowci bouquet composod of choice white narcissi and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids wore hooks of soft white silk, full gauged skirls trimmed with ecru insertion, ' full bodices surmounted by capes edged with the same insertion, pale blue and black picture hats of silk straw trimmed with forget-me-nots and tulle, long streamers of tho tullo caught to tho bodices by turquoise dagger brooches (the gifts of tho bridegroom). Thoy carried shower bouquets of cream narcissi, smilax, and maidenhair fern, with streamers of pale blue. Mrs Tapper, the bride's mother, wore a handsome black satin toilette, and carried a beautiful bouquet of cream rarcissi and ac-paragus. The bride travelled in blue and white voile, trimmed with twine-coloured lace aud blue silk; largo black picture hat. Tho wedding presents, which included several cheques, were numerous and costly. Tho bride's gift to the 'bridegroom was 'a beauti fully-carved escritoire. After the ceremony the bridal party and tho guests rapaired to " Terangi," the residence of Mr Tapper, in BeUekiiowvs. whore the usual toasts wero honoured. Amidst showers of confetti and congratulations the brido and bridegroom left for the north on the " round' trip."
