Tuesday, September 8. (Before Messrs D. A. Do Maus and A. Thomson, J.P'3.) Discharging Firearms.—Joseph Whecldon pleaded "Guilty" to discharging firearms on tho public road in the Lower Harbour.—-De-fendant was convicted and discharged after a caution from the bench. Chimney 011 Fire.—John M'lntosh, who pleaded "Guilty" to allowing his chimney to take fire, was fined 2s Cd, without costs. Assaulting a Child.—Mary C-aplo pleaded "Guilty" to ill-treating her son Frederick, a child under 14 years of age.—Sergeant Geerin said that on Saturday evening last the defendant struck the ohild with a billy, inflicting a woniid on tho forehead about lin long. Defendant was living apart from- her husband, who 'niado her a weekly allowance for the support of tho children. The sergeant added that 110 understood arrangements were completed for a' person in the country to take charge of the boy.—ln answer to tlie Bench, defendant expressed her willingness to have Hie child sent to the country, and sho was then convicted and discharged. •
