DEGREES FOR NEW ZEALANDERS.
EDINBURGH (UNIVERSITY. (Faou Ooit Own Cohbespondext.) July 31. On Saturday last tho summer graduation ceremony of the kainburgh University was held in the. M'Ewan Hall, Sir William Turner (prinoipal of the University) presiding, and a very large number of guests being present. A considerable number of New Zealanders wero among the recipients of degrees. 'I append the full list as supplied to me, together with a note of their respective theses given in connection with each name. The degree of Doctor of Medicine was awarded to tho following New Zealanders: Arthur Leoiiaijfl Anderson, M.8., C.M., New Zealand, 1698. Tho Roiitgon rays in intra-thoracic disease. (Highly commended.) William John Byelay (8.A.), M.8., Cli.B. (with first-olass honours), 1899. A study of the vital statistics of New Zealand, with , a life table for the five years 1891-96. (Highly commended,) * Leslio Kingsland,- M.8., C.M. (with second-class honours), New Zealand, 1897. Tuberculosis in childhood. (Highly commended.) Arthur Anderson Martin, M.8., Cli.B„ New Zealand (with second-class honours), 1900. Medical arid surgical experience whilo a civil surgeon, South African Field Force, late Boer war. (In absentia.) (Commended.)
Ernest Edward Porritt, M.8., C.M,, New Zealand, 1896. Twolve cases of practical interest, with comments. (In absentia.) Tho degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery were conferred upon the following New Zealaiulers: -Charles Maelue Bcgg, Elizabeth Catherine Gunn, Game!; Wilson Harfcy.
