FALLEN SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL.
TO TllE EDITOII.
Sir,—.Among the many suggestions as to the site (or proposed memorial arch to commeinorafe our fallen soldiers I notice that Dr Gordon Macdonald mentions as the best possible sito the main entrance to the Oval. To my mind this gentleman seems to have fixed upon the one sito which is free from objections, and certainly 0110 that would always l>e »'fore the public oyo j and when that reserve is properly filled in and beautified it would ct-rlninly form nil ideal spot for the erection of this permanent tribute to the memory of thoso who so willingly gave their lives for the country tliov loved so noil. Trusting that others will lend their influence to have this spot selected,—l am, etc., Old Settled.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Wilt you kindly allow me to suggest that the Fallen Troopers' Memorial bo erected over tho monument of our late beloved Queen. This, I am sure, would have .met hor approbation and would also add to 'the honour of the brave, as she would then be the central fmire, supported by Jier brave ones on either side.—l am, etc., Dunedin, September 3. Daddie.
