KAIKORAI VALLEY RAILWAY COMMITTEE.
A meeting of tho Kaikorai Valley Railway Committee was held in the Eoslyn Council Chambers on Tuesday evening; present—Messrs J. Hunter (deputy-Mayor, in tho chair), John Ross, K. C. Glendining, A. Thomson, L. Kemnitz, George Butler, .7. Tfamel, .7. Anuand, A. Washer, E. A. Smith, J. Shuttleworth, C. Wedge, and A. Mathesou (secretary).
Tlio Chairman, reported that, at the invitation of the executive, Mr Bedford, M.H.11.. \-isite<l a portion of the proposed route oil that day. Tlio time did not permit of his seeing the lino lower down tho valley than Holyrood, but lie expressed himself to the effect that, looking at the progress of settlement- in tho valley, the need of the line was quite apparent, and lie promised to do all in his power to forward tho schcme. Mr I'. Mackenzie, M.H.R., had also visited tho district lately, and saw for him-' self the necessity for pushing on the building of tho railway.

After discussion it was decided to leave the matter in tlie hands of the executive, •til© following gentlemen being suggested:— Messrs Joseph Hunter (deputy-Mayor of Roslyn), John Ross, T. W. Kempthome, and George Butler (Mayor of Maori Hill). Several gentlemen were added to the committee.
The executive was instructed to employ a canvasser to collect subscriptions to defray current expenses.
