(Pbb; United Pbess Association.) ,'' WESTPOItT, August: 8. ■ At th» Magistrate's Coiirt Adjutant Trask applied to the magistrate' to commit to gaol' Corporal Powell, of the Westport Garrison Artillery, for refusing to pay- a fino of 10s, imposed by Captain Carr, for alleged insolent language. Defendant denied the offence, and said ha had appealed to Colonel Wolfe; that this officer had . dismissed the appeal without giving him a 1 hearing, and that he' (Powell) had lodged an appeal against Colonel Wolfe's decision, but that that officer took it and refused'to forward ifc to headquarters. It .was stated by tho. defendant that one bt tho sergeants of the corps had certified to witnessing the offence, although, not present. Tho magistrate refused to commit defendant. •
