■ FOOTBAH' - Bt Frn.ii Back. NOLAN FELL IN FOIU'.'
What a; lively game that must t?,ivo been, at Eelvinside, where the Edinburgh liniversity played for the firct time in their career, and brought tho season,'so far as they are concerned, to a close in a manner that, (ran't soon be forgoiten by those who saw, the- game. Play; on-their part, was by far the finest wo (says a writer in- AthleticNews) have seen in .Glasgow this season. It, vras Eo open and so fascinating. T!;e fact is, it reminded one of the pa.lmy.days of the West of Scotland when tiiey had fix or seven international playerd in their team. The hero of the "game was Fell, who scored four tries (note-this, yo members of the English Fifteen) in (!io firet half, and one in .the second. Of course, ho was beautifully eerred by Timras and tiie halves. Foil is a Very fetching three-quarter, and if lip. gefs under sail at Richaond (hi?, week, I am certain he will give the onlookers a great treat. O'd timers nil! have mind of A. R. Don Wauehope. Well, Fell has many of the .pretty points which distinguished the play'of ..that old Fcttes boy. Space-is so limited ;tliat I cannot go into the details of this game between the''Vanity and Academicals. Suffice is to pay tliat the champions won by 28 point? to nothing, and this brings the latter's aggregate for the season to' considerably over 200 points, which in itself is a magnifics-nt tribute to the efficiency and the brilliancy of their play. J. S.-M'Donald was one of the winning threequartera, but beyond placing two goals, did nothing in the rcoring line. He is to tako Crabbie's place- in the Scottish team against England on Saturday, and if he manages to keep cool ho will bo all right. Away back in' January I said the union would do a wise thing if they entrusted the threequarter back line to the colonial;— Fell, Orr, Timme and M'Donald—and I have- the satisfaction of now seeing my suggestion acted on. It is altogether a unique line, and whatever the result of the game with England may be, the colonial* will be able to'.look upon Saturday's contest with some degree of pride.
