Tho committee reports that a letter.of Uuuiks has been sent lo the Otago Acolimausalion Society for its donation, through Mr Deuns, manager, of one drake and two Corean ducks to lho°Botanic Gardens; and that tenders have been invited, a-nd are receivable at the meeting on the 27th May, 1803, for 21 years' building lease of allotment 20, sub-division o£ sections 3 and i, block VI, Town District (Carisbrook). The General Committee reports that the sura of £5 has been allowed to Mr E. Admore on. account of lo3s sustained by him whilst painting at the abattoh. The committee further reports that the resignation of Foreman Littlo as a member of the Dimedin City Eire Brigade as from the 30th inst. has been received, and that the appointment of Secretary Joseph' Salmon to fill the vacancy ha 3 been approved. Tho Tramwaye Committee reports having granted a requisition by Noyes Bros, for office material. They report, further, that during tho fortnight ended 18th April, 1903, as compared with the corresponding period for last year, the tramway receipts »nd mileage were as follows:-Receipts: 1903-JEII9I 13s 9d; receipts, 1900—£945 3s; mileage, 17,254 miles 52 chains; mileage, 18,741 miles 30 chains. Pay-sheets' and accounts amounting to £1202 7s lid on the tramways general account and £ 66H 12s Id on the tramways loan account havebeen passed for payment. The Works Committee recommends that a. retaining wall be erected along the line of the fc-ncing in connection with the formation o£ the southern approach to the George street bridge; that the sum of £60 be spent in repairing the roadway between the site of tho old toll bar and Leven street, Roslyn, leading past the Robin Hood quarry, provided tho Eoslyn Borough Council contributes half of tho amount; that repairs bo carried out tO'Rattray street as follows, between High street and tho wharves, at a. cost of £225—namely, the roadway to bo well broken up and regulated, , and afterwards coated with Milestone metal. , Th.e city engineer has been instructed te act in tic following matters:—ln carrying out repairs to Young street batweeu York place and the Town Belt at a cost of fa; mako ono footpath at approach to tho St. David street bridge at a cost ef £25; up to a cost of £5 re Mr C. Black's complaint of the state of the etreet in front of his premises at the corner of Jervois, Vogel, arid Crawford streets. The application of Messrs Noyes Bros, for the uso of the -steam Toiler, with.the scarrifying.attachment, for the purpose of breaking the top surfaoo of the roadway, at a rent of 35s per day, the same to be returnable in good order on demand, has be«n granted. Pay sheets and accounts amounting te £1123 8a lid have been passed for payment.

The Water Committee reports having instructed the city engineer to act with the chairman in tho following matters:—E« quotations to be received for carfing pipes arrived per Port Sonnachan to tho reclaimed land;.as,to arranging for low level water supply, The Gas Committee reports having instructed tho ga3 engineer to proceed with tho work of removing tho Gin gas main in Stuart street, as required to permit o! the erection of the new railway station. Requisitions ior supplies for tho gas works and town department, costing £21 14, and for electric lighter for use in the purifying house have been granted. Tho following tenders havo boon accepted:— Cartage for th? city gas works—Mi A. Johnston, at scliedule prices; supply of lubricating oils to the city gas works—Vacuum Oil Company, at scliedulo prices. Tenders have beeninvited locally, ang from Messrs W. Coward and Co., receivable at tho meeting on the 2tth June i.ext, for the supply of 21in cast iron pipes and fittings. The Finance Committee recommends that applications he invited lor the position of cadet in the town clerk's office at a salary at the rate of £25 per annum. Tho following accounts have been passed for payment:-Municipal. JE2207 18s 8d; water, £425 11s Gd; gas, JCBQI 3s 10d; tramways, £»9 Us 9d; tramways loan, • £6756 2s;—total, £10,893 103 3d.
