These were tiie property of the late Primate, who on bis deathbed expressed a wish that they should be handed over to the library of the Auckland Institute. • HAWEEA, April 17. At a meeting of delegates from 10 factories six announced their intention of joining the proposed colonial importing and distributing company.

A deputation representing the meat industry of 'Canterbury interviewed the Premier and Sir J. G. Ward yesterday on important matters relating to the industry. Details of the interview are not available for publication at present. . .

At the Supreme Court this morning' John Johnston, for breaking and entering ab Masterton, was sentenced to 12 months' hard labour.

OHEISTOHUROH, April 17. The Scottish Society wrote on August 25 to Mr Andrew Carnegie asking for his portrait, .and for a contribution of books having special interest for Scotsmen. Mr Carnegie replied enclosing his photograph, and stiting that he would have pleasure Ja sending some books as evidence of his interest in the society, and asking for a list from which to select. The list ires forwarded to Mr Carnegie.
TIMARU, April 17.
The Tutanekai took the Governor's household goods, horses, and carriages aboard today. His Excellency and. lord NortMand arrived from Dunedin by .the express, and' wont aboard at onoo, the Mayor and chairman of tho Harbour Board bidding them good-bye at the ship's side. Tho steamer left for Wellington immediately.
