UNION STREET SCHOOL OLD BOYS' CLUB.
The annual meeting of the nbove club was held last evening in the Union Street School Hall. Mr G. C.. Israel occupied' tho chair, and there wero present about 32 members. ■
The report (already published) and balance sheet were adopted. ■In moving the adoption of tho report the Chairman remarked upon the good spirit in which tho club had taken.its defeat.last year. ,lhe club was still to be complimented on the position it had.attnjried. iii the banner coiupelition, and ho hoped it would do even better this season; The combined gymnastic display he had witnessed himself, and tho club had performed in a manner that would have done credit to many older exponents at the game. The " open night" last year "had been much onjoyod, and he hoped the'incoming committee would arrange for nioro than ono during the ensuing season. These exhibitions served the double purpose of advertising tho club and convincing the tiroia Hint the exorcists wcro not dangerous, but 'purely exercises of skill. Speaking of finances, he v;ns pleased to note the club had been conducted on businesslike lines. Tho School Committee's offer of a subsidy of pound for pound for all moneys raised for the purchase of new apparatus was still open. Ho mentioned that, a now pair .of parallel bars of the latest pattern had beeu ordered, and would shortly be ready for nsp. The gymnasium was well equipped, and although tho club had a membership of 52, there was no reason why it should not reach 100.
The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr'A. .Stewart; vice-presi-dents—the members ot the School Committee, (he male members of the teaching staff, and Mr G. l?leury; lion, secretary and'treasurer, Mr W. M. TJltlcy; General Committee-Messrs C. Robertson, J. Pcrmin, \V. Ciiishohn, P. Israel, and E. Manley; .delegate:to the Otago Gymnastic Association, Mr J. Permin. It was decided that the club open the season on Monday, April 20, arid that two' meetings be held each week—oti Moridaj-3 and Thursdays, the fee being fixed at 7s6d for tho two nights or 5s for one night per week. The credit balance from last.yea? (£1 ss) was transferred from the general fuud to tho special fund for tho purchase of new apparatus. The meeting concluded with tho passing of votes of thanks .to the chair and to the . School Comniitteo for kindnesses shown throughout tho season,
