PERSONAL NOTES.
The friends of Mr E. G. Allen, will regret to hear that lie has been confincd to Bis houso for the last few days by a sharp attack of influenza, He is now, howe-e>, slightly better, and hopes to he about again in tho course of the next few days. The death is announced by cable of Mr John H. Shorthouse, the well-known author ol" John Inglesant," "Sir Percival," etc. He was 69 years of age. Mr Eayward, of tile firm of Baldwin and EaywaTd, patent agents, arrived from the north on Saturday, and will be in Dunedih for some davs.
