BIG FIRE IN LONDON. (Received March 7, at 9.57 a.m.) A great five occurred at Rotherhithc (South London) in some maltsters' premises. Two hundred firemen were engaged in the attempt to suppress it. UNDERGROUND TELEGRAPHY. As a result of the late gale, underground telegraphy is being extended ill the English midland counties, ill Scotland, and along the cast coast. A NARROW ESCAPE. March 7. (Received March 8, at 4.40 p.m.) Tlio escape of the mail steamer Pas do Calais from the Goodwin Sands when one of her paddles was broken during the liurricano was due to her anchor catching a cable line. AN INVALUABLE OFFICER. (Received March 8, at 5 p.m.) The Times refers to the death of Colonel George Francis Robert Henderson, Director of Military Intelligence in South Africa, as an almost irreparable loss to the amy. GREAT BRITAIN'S TRADE. The imports into Great Britain during February have decreased in value by £1,120,000, and the exports increased by £1,463,000, as compared with the previous February. A RHODESIA COLD STORAGE ' COMPANY. The Rhodesia Cold Storage Trading Company has been formed, with a. capital of £500,000, and issuing shares to tlie value of £193,61G, to acquire storago plants in Rhodesia, and also the Napier Broome Estate of one million acres of pastoral country from the North-west Australia Land and Cold Storage Company as a base for the supply of meat and cattle. A BLIZZARD IN AMERICA. NEW YORK, March 0. A blizzard destroyed great numbers of cattle in Texas and Arizona.
