SMOKE CONCERT.
The Dttnedin Cricket Club lield a veiy enjoyable smoke concert in their club pavilion at the Caledonian Ground on Friday, when some 60 members and visitors were present, Mr H. B. Courtis (vice-president) occupying the chair, and was supported by Dr Evans and Mr AY. J. Moore, The Chairman, in his opening lemarks, referred to the great improvement which had been made to the clubioom, and expressed thanks to the Caledonian Society for the improvements they had made. During the 'evening songs were rendered by Messrs H. B. Courtis, D. Melville, Jlusker, Sheridan, D. H. Thomson, AY. J, Moore, AA\ Mackersy, A, Maclean, J. Drumm, G. and I. Moody, H. Shaw, A. Courtis, J. Croxford, C. Frith, and G. Skitch, while Messrs J. Ralston, D. Shortliwid, C. Albert, and C. Vaughon, of the Pollard Opera Company, rendered several fine items, which greatly pleased the assembly. Mr A. Courtis also gave several items 'from his phonograph. The following toasts were honoured:—"The . King," " The ■ Otago Cricket Association," " Dunedin Cricket Club," " The Visitors," "The Absent Members," and "The Prizogivcrs." During the evening Mr AY. H. Skitch, on behalf of the Club, presented Mr J. Baker with some useful household articles on the occasion of his marriage. In making the presentation Mr Skitch referred to Mr Baker's many fine qualities, and the many services he had rendered cricket in gonoral. On all occasions he had proved a true sport and a gentleman, Mr Baker feelingly responded. Messrs G. Skitch, P. C. Liggins, and C. Vaughan .officiated at the piano in a very able manner. A very pleasant evening was brought to a close with'tha singing of " Auld kna ivna"-
