(Received March 6, at 10.4 p.m.) A meeting of the Associated Chambers of .Commerce recommended that communication by telephones or ethergram he established between lightships and lightr houses and the shore. Marconi, who was amongst the speakers?,'declared that ethergramic communication with lightships and light-houses was working successfully in Germany and America. He emphasised the fact that Belgian steamers, by means of the Marconigraph, announced the breakdown of the steamer Pas de Calais in the recent gale. • ' (Received March- 6, at 11.35 p.m.) Mr Gerald Balfour, President of the Board of Trade, addressing the Lifeboat Institution, said that tlie difficulties associated with wireless communication between lighthouses and the coast in their relation to national defence, rendered a comprehensive plan imperative, lie hoped that Fastnet and the shore i Would soon he connected by ethergrams.
