LONDON. March 4. (Received March 5, at 9.11 a.m.) Lieutenant Croby, of the Nigerian forces, and 14 men recently had a gallant fight, lasting-several hours, defending a Southern Nigerian village against 1000 Indebe Afikpoos. The Englishmen repeatedly checked the desperate rushes made by the natives, and ultimately managed to withdraw with the inhabitants from the village. Subsequently Lieutenant Croby was reinforced, and dispersed the Afikpoos at the point of the bavonet.

Major Hennikcr, with 250 men, traversed the Indebs Country, irjd subdued the Afikpoos after stiff fighting.
