(From PiR Own Correspondent.) CLYDE, March 3. J[r Hughes, engineer 011 the Unity dredge, sustained concussion c>f the brain through falling off the gantry on Friday evening last. The sufferer, who is still unconsoious, 15 being attended to at the Dunstan, Hospital. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, March 4. Thomas Danlton, uged 2L years, died tonight. Ho recovered somewhat on landing, but an abscess near tho brain set in. lie was a very .popular young fellow. , BLENHEIM, March 3. A waggoner mimed' Humphreys, 25 years of age, was killed near Seddcai to-day. Tho particulars of the affair are meagre, but it appears that in ascending a hill _ the horses jibbed, and the waggon capsized, Humphreys being killed in the fall. Deceased was unmarried. Walter Guy, an employee of Mr Short, met with a severe accident at the Buxnside cattleyards yesterday. He and another workman were carrying * heavy bluegum plank upon their rhouldcrs, when Guy foil, and the plank coining down 011 his head rendered him unconscious. 110 was brought into town by the 2.5 p.m. train and taken in tho ambulance to the Hospital, where it was found that he had received a slight concussion of the brain. He was making satisfactory progress last night. The jockey Mathie, who was injured at Wingatui racecourse on Saturday, is now in a semi-conscious condition. Last night he was able to state his name, and that he lived at St. Kilda. but could not speak intelligibly of anything else. There is everyliopo that he will' scon regain complete consciousncss. .Tolm Grsig, injured at Port' Chalmers on Saturday, and removed to tho Dunedin Hospital, is still unconscious.
