(Received March 3, at 9.1 a.m.) The newspaper Engineering states that the report prepared by the Standards Committee expresses the hope that British standard sections will come into operation within 12 months. It is estimated that the riduet-iou in cost of structural steel alone will i amount to £750,000 per annum. A series of sectional standards is being issued approximating closely to those used by foreign competitors, so that makers, by readjusting their machinery, will be enabled to stock tho material, including bridgebuildiug and locomotives, aud so prevent orders going abroad.
