It has .been dccided -to fix three screws in each vessel; each of these screws will bo driven by an entirely separate engine, capable of developing or. the .Atlantic 20,000 indicated horse-power, so that tjje three engines together will he equal to the enormous total of 60.000 indicated horae-power. The quadruple expansion system will be adopted, so that alto-.getlior-there are likely "to be 18 cylinders in the main propelling engines, and these will ibe the first ships fitted with three screws for the Atlantio service. The lime allowed for the building of the ship.; is from '25 to 27 months, so that they should bo on their station in May or June, 1905. The barque Silvcrstream, which arrived off the' heads on Sunday afternoon from East 'London, South Africa, is to load at Dunedin fur a Homo port, and was towed into port and anchored in the lower harbour yesterday afternoon.
