PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr J. .Bevin, traffio clerk in the Railway Department, Dunedm, ]eavc3 for Botorua'this morning to undergo some weeks' treatment- in the baths for acute muscular rheumatism. A Napier telegram reports the death yesterday of Mr F. W. Kobjohns, head ot tho wellknown firm of Kobjohns, Hindmarsh, and Co. after a long and trying illness. Deceased was 33 years of use. Mr Fred Duval, who has been associated with Mr P. H. Dix for the last two years as manager has accepted the position of touring manager of Mr A. Anderson's Drajnatic Company during their colonial tour. At St. Peter's vestry, Caversham, on Friday evening, Miss B. Pearce and Mr A. Allan were on the occasion of their approaching marriage' the recipients of a case of silver teaspoons and silver serviette rings. The presentation was made by Mr W. G. Bridger, choirmaster, and suitably acknowledged. On Friday evening last, the lGth last., a smoke concert was held at Mr John 'Walsh's house, at Deep Stream, in honour of Mr Win. Lecder, the past two years and a-hali has so successfully managed tjio Deep Stream Amalgamated Company's claim at Deep Stream. Having resigned recently, the miners' met together to bid him farewell, and after a very appetising supper, prepared by the Misses "W alsh, had been discussed, the chair was taken by Mr Augustine Kirby, who, in presenting him, on behalf of the employees of the claim, with an inscribed gold Maltese cross, said that the loss to tile district would be very great,. and expressed the hope that Mr Lceder's future w/iuld be a bright and prosperous one. After Mr Leeder had feelingly replied, the evening was spent in a social manner, and songs wtra well rendered by nearly all those present. Mr Leeder"s absence from the district will be greatly felt, as lie has been to the fore on every ' occasion, and his popularity has been Teiy great.
