ARBITRATION COURT

: —♦ The business for the Arbitration Court, which, is not expected to eit in Dunedin until some time in March, is rapidly accumulating. The Dunedin Pastrycooks' Union of Workers is applying for a hearing of the case against the master bakers of Otago and Southland; tho Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners of Otago and Southland is similarly applying against the employers of the name district; and the United Millers' Engine-drivers and Mill Employee*! Society of Otago against the master millers of Otago and Southland. Claims' for compensation have been lodged in these caws: James Hutohings v. Andrew Jopp, for injury to worker (to be heard at Alexandra) ; Arthur M. Bateman v. Frederick Ellis, for injury to worker (to bft heard at Dunedin) ; George Needham v. Samuel Law, for injury to , worker (heard at Alexandra); Robert Attwood v. Smith and others, case of deceased worker (heard at Invorcargill); Martin Edwards and others v. John Withers, ease of deceased worker (no place fixed); and Kobert Aitken v. Fortification Coal Company, for injury to worker (no place fixed). Applications to amend tho agreement have been filed by the employers and workers in the Otago timber yards and sawmills award. The coal miners have applied for an enforcement of the awards against the Allandalo Coal Company, but this will probably be withdrawn. The only other case Mt down so far is that of tho Otago Iron Workers against the Otago Iron Roll: ing Mill 3 Company, an application to enforoe the award.
